ETFO 2016 Annual Meeting Aug. 15-18, featured guest speaker is Q.C. Dennis Edney
TORONTO, August 15, 2016 – Over 800 public elementary school teachers and education professionals will attend the 2016 Annual Meeting of the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) in Toronto from today through August18 at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel. They will set policies and directions for the coming year during the Federation’s annual democratic forum.
ETFO President Sam Hammond will speak this afternoon with a review of the year’s activities. This year’s social justice speaker on Wednesday is Canadian defense lawyer Dennis Edney who served as defense attorney for Omar Khadr and is the recipient of human rights awards from the Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia and the John Humphrey Centre for Peace and Human Rights among others.
ETFO represents 78,000 elementary public school teachers and education professionals across the province and is the largest teacher federation in Canada. Reporters are welcome to attend sessions.
